Unifor members working for the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with their employer.

The agreement follows collective bargaining discussions related to the previous collective agreement, which expired on March 31, 2026.

“A four-year agreement provides greater stability and predictability for our customers, our employees and the industries that depend on the Seaway,” said Jim Athanasiou, Ppresident and CEO of SLSMC. “It gives us a strong foundation to look ahead and continue working together to support growth, trade and the long-term competitiveness and resilience of this vital transportation corridor.”

“Our members play a critical role in operating one of the country’s most strategically important pieces of economic infrastructure. Throughout these negotiations, they demonstrated that when workers remain united and stand together, they have real power to advance their priorities,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.
